#### What is Vedic Mathematics?

Mathematics is universally regarded as the mother of all Sciences. Mathematics unites and mediates between Man and Nature, inner and outer world, though, and perception. Still, Mathematics is considered to be a dry and boring subject by many people. Children generally show fear of Mathematics and dislike the subject. They are unwilling to learn the unrelated, monotonous, long step method of solving mathematical operations.

Vedic Mathematics develops in a structured way and covers all areas of mathematics like Algebra, Geometry, Co-ordinates Geometry, Calculus, Trigonometry, Astronomy, Reasoning, etc. People have heard about Commercial & Engineering Mathematics etc. but rarely come across Vedic Mathematics and have wondered what this meant and what it is all about?

Vedic mathematics is the collective name given to a set of sixteen mathematical formulae discovered by Swami Sri Bharati Krishna Tirthaji, who later became Shankaracharya of Govardhan Peeth, Puri. Though these are mathematical formulae, most of them are word formulae. Swamiji used Vedic as an adjective to his discovery of formulae because Vedic stands for fountainhead of knowledge & derived from "Veda", "Atharva Veda". Complex Mathematical questions that otherwise take numerous steps to solve can be solved with the help of a few steps and in some cases without any intermediate steps at all! Methods of Vedic Mathematics are very easy-to-grasp and straightforward. So simple that most of the calculations are done in the head, mentally, without the pen, paper, or even calculators. Vedic Mathematics appears, at first, to have a magical quality. When the methods are understood, it is unified mathematics. Swamiji said, “It is magic until you understand it and mathematics thereafter".

#### Does learning Vedic Maths help in academics?

Vedic Maths helps kids learn Maths with a new approach that is very easy & interesting. It helps sharpen the brain, enhances performance in class, and helps in competitive exams.

Aryans Vedic Mathematics provides intermediate step writing as well as verifying techniques so it can be used in schools to score higher grades

#### My kid has fear of Maths. Will Vedic maths change his attitude?

Of course, your child will start enjoying Mathematics right after the first class. Kids find Vedic Math a fun going & refreshing approach to learning so they can enjoy using simple steps to solve complex problems that can definitely enhance their confidence level too. Cross verifying techniques make him confident & self-dependent as he would not be dependent on anyone for checking the correctness of the answers

- 04
#### My kid is already good at Maths. Can he take up Vedic Maths?

Sure. Even those who are good in maths at the school benefit from Vedic Maths as this is a new approach of mental calculations & improve speed up to 60 times (Faster than a calculator or a computer)

- 05
#### Is it expensive to learn Vedic maths?

No, as it's a one year course & covers most of the difficult topics of classes mostly up to class X. Also, your kid can get ahead of the competition and develop a lifelong skill that will help in cracking scholarship, entrance & competitive exams much better than any other student.

- 06
#### Does Vedic Maths interfere with academic studies?

No even Vedic Maths can make your child tuition/coaching FREE as he will get depth knowledge of all the Mathematical concepts. so it does not interfere with academic studies but helps in writing & verifying each & every step... It makes students mentally agile and gives them newer approaches to solving problems. Also, he would not be stuck up with a single method even solve a single problem with multiple easy-to-grasp methods. Also, students can write & verify all steps needed to write in school while solving maths problems & verify the correctness of their solution.

#### How is Vedic Maths different from Abacus?

Most parents are confused between Abacus and Vedic Maths and tend to think that these two techniques are the same. Vedic maths is different much more advanced than Abacus. There are many differences:

The main difference is that Vedic Maths is comprehensive and is applied to various branches of maths like Algebra, Geometry, Arithmetic, Trigonometry, Calculus, Co-ordinates, etc, while Abacus is a simpler arithmetic technique that covers very few portions of Arithmetic that is Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division & squares in a span of 3-4 years whereas in Vedic Math these concepts can be done thoroughly in 10-12 classes. Also, Vedic maths, unlike Abacus, can be used for advanced maths like simultaneous equations, algebra, calculus, etc.

Another difference is that Abacus can be started early when children are 5 years old; while Vedic maths is generally useful for early kids who are studying in grade 3 & higher grades

Vedic maths can be learned and used by people of all ages, while Abacus is less likely to be useful for those older than 11 years.

Also, for Abacus, children start by using a tool; whereas Vedic Maths is done completely mentally, without any device

Another major difference in speed, Abacus techniques are 2 to 5 times faster than conventional Math whereas Vedic Math is surprisingly up to 60 times faster.

Children could start at an early age by learning Abacus and move onto learning Vedic Maths.

#### I keep hearing about 16 sutras in Vedic Maths. What are these sutras?

These are very very easy & simple word formulas:

- By one more than the one before
- All from 9 and the last from 10
- Vertically and Cross-Wise
- Transpose and Apply
- The summation if equal to Zero
- If One is in Ratio the Other is Zero
- By Addition and by Subtraction
- By the Completion or Non-Completion
- Sequential Motion
- The Deficiency
- Whole as One and One as Whole
- The Remainders by the Last Digit
- The Ultimate and Twice the Penultimate
- By One Less than the Previous One
- The Whole Product is the same
- Collectivity of multipliers.
